For an easy way to create threaded holes in any sheet materials, try this RS PRO threaded insert. They’re designed for creating holes for bolts, screws and other fixtures.

As the insert is self-adjusting, you’ll feel the insert pressing firmly against the sheet when it’s fine to stop tightening the screw. Just place the insert and screw into any hole of the accompanying friction wrench. Use these threaded inserts with a range of material thickness from 0.38 mm to 4.75 mm. Just push through pre-drilled holes, and tighten the screw by using the friction wrench until it's flush against the sheet.

Their zinc-plated mild-steel construction gives these threaded inserts reliable resistance to corrosion and rust. These components are most often used in automotive and industrial applications to improve the strength of thin sheets of materials like plasterboards or plastic and steel or aluminium sheets.
