Eaton Contactor Overload Relay – ZE Series Thermal Overload Relays

This Eaton Contactor Overload Relay is designed to help your motor continue working in a safe environment by monitoring the current in the motor circuit and breaking the circuit when an electrical overload or phase failure is found. It works by cutting off the current to the motor when a high current situation occurs. As the relay receives the corresponding signal, it trips.

This Eaton product is predominantly designed for imitating the heating prototypes that are a staple for keeping your motors healthy, which increases the motor lifetime. It provides an affordable and efficient way for you to protect your motors, whilst giving you peace of mind that you have sufficient motor protection and control.

Eaton’s reliable and high-quality Overload Relay offers motor control within a multitude of environments, coming with a 600 V ac control voltage, 6W power rating and a temperature range of -5 to +55 °C. Eaton offer a wide range of reliable contactor overload relays to protect machinery from overheating, keeping your business and its operations accessible.

Features and Benefits

• An affordable way of preventing damage to the motor
• Compact in size with a 58mm x 106mm x 45mm (DxLxW)
• Wide operating temperature range of -5 to +55 °C
• Bimetallic tripping mechanism with trip response from 2 to 10 seconds
• Easy to install and reset once they have tripped
• Has test and stop functions, assessing quality of the overload relay
• Automatic and Manual reset methods
• Class 10 A overload

Eaton Overload Relay, NO/NC, 1.6 to 2.4 A FLC Rating - ZE Series - 014479 ZE-2,4

This contactor overload relay from Eaton protects motors that run with a full load current rating of 1.6 to 2.4A. If the motor experiences an overload current for an extended period of time, the overload relay shuts down the current and prevents damage to the motor. An operating temperature range of -5°C to +55°C makes this device suitable for use in demanding industrial environments. To let you promptly restart work after tripping, it comes with automatic and manual reset options.

Features & Benefits

• Screw terminals for quick connections
• Test and stop functions to monitor performance

How does this thermal overload relay work?

A thermal overload relay uses the heat generated by an overcurrent to switch off the current. The relay includes a strip made of two metals that expand at different rates when heated. This causes the strip to bend when it reaches a certain temperature, breaking the circuit to switch off the current.

What happens if I set the overload protection too low?

If overload protection is set too low, the motor will be disconnected even when it's working normally. It's important to set the protection according to the voltage rating of your motor.
