This Eaton Contactor Overload Relay is designed to help your motor continue working in a safe environment by monitoring the current in the motor circuit and breaking the circuit when an electrical overload or phase failure is found. It works by cutting off the current to the motor when a high current situation occurs. As the relay receives the corresponding signal, it trips.

Why would I use an overload relay?

How does a thermal overload relay work?


A thermal overload relay like this one uses a bimetallic strip made up of two dissimilar metals. When they're subjected to an overload current, the metals heat up and expand at different rates, bending the strip to break the power supply.
