RS PRO Magnet for Use with Proximity Switch

Magnetic proximity switches (also known as reed switches) are electrical switches operated by a magnetic field, commonly provided by a small magnet. They can be used to detect specific actions, like the opening of a door and are widely employed for electrical circuit control, like in door and window sensors for a domestic burglar alarm. This RS PRO rectangular switch magnet is ideally suited for use with this kind of switch.

It's enclosed in a rust-resistant aluminium case measuring 32 mm x 15 mm x 8 mm, so it will fit neatly and unobtrusively in position, while its rectangular shape and two countersunk mounting holes make fastening it to a frame or casement simple.

A reed switch/magnet combination is useful for applications in hazardous areas or locations where it isn't possible to make direct physical contact with a switch, such as in toxic environments, or in medical devices.
