Honeywell 14CE Series Limit Switch, 11.8Nm Operating Force, Die Cast Zinc Housing - 14CE3-1H

This limit switch is a Compact electromechanical device designed to detect and control physical motion within automation and industrial systems. It operates as a single-pole, double-throw mechanism with snap-action contacts and is intended for rugged use where reliable switching of electrical circuits is required. The unit is supplied with a cable-style Terminal arrangement and is suitable for installation in gang-mounted assemblies.

Features and Benefits:

• Snap-action contacts deliver Rapid switching at rated voltages and currents
• High cycle life provides 10 million cycles for long operational run-time
• Wide environmental sealing offers IP65–IP68 protection for harsh sites
• Robust die-cast zinc enclosure resists mechanical wear and impact
• Defined operating force of 11.8 Nm ensures consistent actuation response
• Accepts AC250V and DC30V switching at 5A for diverse load types

Applications

• Suitable for conveyor end-of-travel detection in manufacturing lines
• Ideal for limit sensing on pneumatic or hydraulic actuators
• Used with packaging machinery for position verification tasks
• Can be used for door and gate position monitoring in facilities
• Suitable for safety interlock detection in electrical cabinets

What temperature range can it tolerate in operation?

It functions between 0°C and 70°C, covering typical indoor and protected outdoor environments.

How is the device mounted and oriented during installation?

It is designed for gang mounting which allows multiple switches to be grouped in a Compact assembly.

What mechanical endurance can installers expect from repetitive cycling?

The mechanism is rated for 10 million mechanical cycles, reducing replacement frequency under frequent actuation.

What contact configuration is provided for wiring flexibility?

The switch uses a single-pole, double-throw contact arrangement to permit both normally open and normally closed circuit designs.

Approvals

UL, CSA.

Warning

14CE limit switches are not emergency stop devices or safety devices. They must not be used in devices, applications and environments where injury can incur as a result of product failure.

Standards

IP Rating:
All models within the 14CE series meet IP65, IP66, IP67, IP68. This ensures that they are completely dust tight, offer protection against jets of water and can be immersed in water up to 3 m.

NEMA Rating:
Every 14CE limit switch also meets NEMA, 2, 3, 3R, 4, 6, 6P and 13 requirements.

Type 2: Allows for indoor use and provides a degree of protection against access to hazardous parts. The enclosures provide a degree of protection against foreign objects (such as falling dirt) and the ingress of water (light dripping or splashing).
Type 3: Allows for indoor or outdoor use and provides a degree of protection against access to hazardous parts. The enclosures provide some protection from foreign objects (such as windblown dust) and the ingress of water (such as rain or snow). Enclosures that meet NEMA 3 offer protection against ice forming externally.
Type 3R: Allows for indoor or outdoor use and provides a degree of protection against access to hazardous parts. The enclosures primarily provide ingress protection against water (such as rain, snow or sleet). Enclosures that meet NEMA 3 offer protection against ice forming externally.
Type 4: Allows for indoor or outdoor use and provides a degree of protection against access to hazardous parts. The enclosures provide some protection from foreign objects (such as falling dirt and windblown dust) and the ingress of water (such as rain, snow or sleet alongside splashing water and hose directed water). Enclosures that meet NEMA 3 offer protection against ice forming externally.
Type 6: Allows for indoor or outdoor use and provides a degree of protection against access to hazardous parts. The enclosures provide some protection from foreign objects (such as falling dirt and windblown dust) and the ingress of water (such as rain, snow or sleet alongside splashing water and hose directed water). Enclosures that meet NEMA 4 offer protection against ice forming externally.
Type 6P: Allows for indoor or outdoor use and provides a degree of protection against access to hazardous parts. The enclosures provide some protection from solid objects (such as falling dirt and windblown dust) and the ingress of water (such as hose directed water). Enclosures that meet the NEMA 6P requirement also offer protection against water when being submerged at a limited depth.
Type 13: Enclosures that meet Type 13 are suited to harsh environments. Enclosures can be used indoors and provide protection against access to hazardous parts. They offer protection against solid objects such as falling dirt, windblown dirt, fibres and lint. They provide a level of protection from dripping and splashing water and other liquids such as the splashing, seepage and spraying of oil and non-corrosive coolants.
