3M 3000 Series 2.54 x 2.54 mm Cable Mount IDC Socket Connectors
3000 series cable mount industry standard IDC ribbon cable socket connectors with a 2.54 x 2.54 mm pitch. These IDC cable sockets accept 26 AWG and 28 AWG solid and stranded 1.27 mm pitch flat ribbon cable or discrete wire. The use of IDC contacts eliminates the need for prior cable preparation and stripping and provides a quick and simple interconnection system for mass termination. The contacts are made from beryllium copper which has a high resistance to corrosion, good wear resistance and better electrical conductivity than brass or bronze. The housings of these 3000 series IDC sockets feature dual slot military polarization to aid accurate mating with the header connector. The design of these 3000 series IDC sockets sets the standard for MIL spec and IEC standardization. These 3000 series ribbon cable sockets feature positive locking metal 'J' clips that ensure the cover of the connector is securely retained. The covers have a transfer adhesive on them that holds the cover onto the ribbon cable for precise alignment between the connector and the cables. This feature also results helps with the production of high yield terminations. A pull tab is available separately which is attached to the socket using a strip of adhesive. The pull tab is used to reduce stress on the cable terminations when the socket connector is unplugged from the mated header. A keying plug is also available which is plugged into a socket contact so that the male pin cannot enter it.

3M IDC Connector Socket, 20 Way, 2 Rows - 3000 Series - 3421-6600
Need a connector socket to quickly and easily mount on a ribbon cable? This industry-standard IDC (insulation-displacement contact) connector from 3M doesn't need any cable preparation or stripping. The covers are coated with a transfer adhesive that holds them onto the ribbon cable to make sure everything is precisely aligned, with locking metal 'J' clips to hold them securely in place. Dual-slot military polarisation helps you mate them accurately with the header connector every time.

How does an IDC connector socket work?
An IDC connector socket forces a blade or blades through the cable insulation to make the electrical contact. This means there's no need to strip the cable, which saves time and work when compared with traditional crimping methods.
