RS PRO Cat6 UTP Solid Cable


Category 6 or Cat6 cable for short is the 6th generation of twisted pair Ethernet cabling that is widely used in both business and home network installations. It is commonly known as a network cable, LAN, or Ethernet cable. It consists of 4 twisted pairs of sheathed copper wire cables, able to support a high data transfer.

Cat6 cables are backward compatible with Cat5/ Cat5e and Cat3. This un-terminated UTP cable has 8 solid conductors in 4 twisted pairs. It can be identified as Cat 6 cable by the labelling on the outer sheath, making measuring and installations easier.

Bandwidth is the rate of data transfer, the carrying of information from one place to another, the higher the bandwidth, the faster the data can be pushed across a network. The bandwidth of the Cat6 cable is 250 MHz, significantly faster than that of Cat5e.
