Harting Hand Crimping Tool for Turned D-Sub Contacts
A quality hand crimping tool for crimping turned D-sub male and female coaxial inner contacts and signal contacts. This handy tool has a cycle controlled precision ratchet which prevents the tool being opened before the crimping action is completed. This feature ensures accurate and consistently high-quality crimps are achieved each time and prevents partial crimps.
An 8 indent selector knob on the tool enables the correct crimp setting to be selected and a positioner guide locks the positioner firmly in place.
Features and Benefits
• Produces crimps according to MIL-DTIL-22520/2-01
• A wide wire size range of 32-20 AWG
• 8-step selector knob for crimp depth selection
• Ratchet mechanism ensures that a full crimp cycle is achieved
• Minimum maintenance required
Locator
The locator for this hand crimp tool must be purchased separately, see stock number 756-7345.
Typical Applications:
• Maintenance & repair
• Electrical Installations
• Computer Interfacing
• Cable assemblies
FAQ:
How easy are they to use?
They are very easy to use, choose the male or female pin for application, insert the wire into the pin then open the crimp tool, insert into the hole of the indent crimper and squeeze until the cycle finishes.
How do you maintain the product?
• Movable parts should be regularly lubricated.
• Lubrication* is recommended at least every 10,000 cycles whenever the tool is exposed to contaminants.
The Importance of a High-Quality Crimp
When a crimping tool is used on a terminal, two crimps take place at the same time. One is the electrical connection between the conductor and terminal. The other is the insulation crimp which provides strain relief against vibration and tension. It is important that the electrical connection is gas-tight without any voids between the wire strands and the terminal. If there any voids present, then corrosion can occur causing resistance and excessive heat which damages the electrical connection. Using a good quality crimping tool will ensure that a full, gas-tight crimp is produced preventing future deterioration of the electrical connection and insulation breakage.
