What's the difference between a shielded end and a sealed end?


A sealed end usually has rubber seals that stop moisture and chemicals getting into the bearing. A shielded end has a metal shield with a gap that keeps dirt and debris out but is less effective at resisting moisture. One advantage of shielded bearings is that they aren't limited by speed, while bearing seals limit the maximum speed of the bearing.
