When should I choose an SSR with instantaneous turn-on?

Instantaneous turn-on is a good option for systems that need split-second reaction times, but it isn't a good fit if you need to get a handle on capacitative loads. To handle such loads, you should use the zero-cross switching version of this unit (291-2359).

How does an SSR differ from an electromagnetic relay?

SSRs have no moving parts, unlike their electromagnetic counterparts. This makes them resistant to wear, so they last longer.
