It features the Epson S1V30120 Speech Synthesis IC.

Powered by the Fonix DECtalk v5 speech synthesis engine
A parser works to create a more natural sounding speech synthesis
Fine control over the quality, pitch and intonation
11.025 kHz sampling rate of audio synthesised speech
Audio reproduction capabilities (ADPCM decoding)
SPI serial bus interface on mikroBUS socket
3.3 V (default) or 5 V power supply on mikroBUS socket
