845-Piece Galvanised Steel Flat Head POZISQUARE Woodscrew Kit
From the trusted professional brand, RS PRO, this 845-piece woodscrew kit includes galvanised steel screws with yellow passivation in various sizes with flat screw heads and POZISQUARE® drives, the latest iteration of the cruciform recess to come after the widely-used Pozidriv. These screws have self-drilling tips, removing the need for pilot holes before insertion and making the fastening process much more efficient.
In this kit, you will find 845 galvanised steel woodscrews with yellow passivation. These screws have thread sizes of 3.5mm, 4mm, 5mm and 6mm, and vary in length from 25mm to 100mm. The yellow passivation gives these screws the same protection from corrosion and wear as a BZP finish; the only difference is the colour. This kit also includes POZISQUARE driver bits in all sizes required.

Applications
As the name suggests, woodscrews are used specifically for wooden applications and can be used in wooden materials such as MDF, chipboard, hardwood and softwood. The galvanised steel material gives these screws strength which can be used alongside wood glue to create an incredibly strong bond. Screws are also used where the expansion and contraction of the wood can be an issue, holding it in place. Applications for woodscrews include:
- Joinery projects
- Wooden cabinet and furniture assembly
- Mounting hardware
- Trims
Frequently Asked Questions
What type of woodscrews should I use?
Woodscrews can come in fully or partially threaded varieties, but all of them feature pointed ends and threads that can penetrate even the hardest wood types. The strength required to support the weight of the application may affect the type of screw that is best for your application, so make sure you know exactly what you will need.
Steel screws are considered the best for woodworking and interior DIY due to their strength and versatility, but there are also bronze silicone, brass and stainless steel varieties, among others. The environment of the application should always be considered, as brass screws will tarnish under weather conditions.
Do I need to create pilot holes for woodscrews?
It is recommended that appropriately-sized pilot holes are driven before fitting screws, as this will stop the wood from splitting or cracking when the screw is inserted. This is especially important when inserting screws into complexly structured woods, such as oak.
Pilot holes will guide the screws into position and will also remove the risk of the screw breaking under high levels of pressure.
