Raspberry Pi Compute Module 4 (CM4) 8GB, 32GB Flash

The Raspberry Pi Compute Module 4 is loosely based on the Raspberry Pi 4B. The form factor of the new CM4 is different from previous Compute modules, which have all shared a form factor.

The Flash memory is connected directly to the processor on the board, however the remaining processor interfaces are available to the user via the connector pins. The electrical interface of the CM4 is via two 100-pin high density connectors. The footprint of the CM4 is now smaller with the new form factor design.

Wireless is not required, as the CM4 board can be equipped with an onboard Gigabit Ethernet PHY. A standard 1:1 RJ45 MagJack is the only thing necessary to provide an ethernet connection to the user’s Compute Module 4.

The CM4 has an internal PCIe (peripheral component interconnect express) 2.0 x1 host controller meaning the user can connect the board to high speed components such as GPUs, RAID cards, Wi-Fi Cards or Solid State Drives (SSD).

There are 28 pins available for general purpose I/O (GPIO) on the Compute Module 4 which match with the GPIO pins on the Raspberry Pi 4B 40-pin header. The pins have access to many internal peripherals such as I2C, PWM, SPI, UART and supports inputs (or outputs) of controllable micro controllers.

The Compute Module 4 supports Dual HDMI 2.0, CSI-2 (MIPI Serial Camera) as well as DSI (MIPI Serial Display). This means there are 6 ports capable of image display/capture at any one given time and they are supported by Official Raspberry Pi firmware.
