When linked to a compatible instrument, it'll multiply the voltage range you can measure, so you can accurately take differential voltage measurements up to 1.4kV and common-mode voltage measurements up to 1kV. For increased flexibility, you can fine-tune your process by choosing between the two attenuation ratios of 50:1 and 500:1.
