From RS Pro a high quality medium duty H05VV-F flexible mains power cable with PVC insulation and a PVC jacket. This cable has a voltage rating of 300 to 500 V and is designed for use in medium duty electronic applications

What is Mains Cable?


A mains power cable connects an appliance to a mains electricity supply through the use of a wall socket or an extension lead which will then be plugged into a mains supply

Cable Construction


This flexible cable consists of either 2,3 4 or 5 cores made up of fine stranded copper conductors or wires. Each individual core is surrounded by colour coded PVC (Polyvinyl Chloride) insulation for easy identification of the wires. All the cores are then surrounded by a final outer layer of PVC called a sheath or jacket.

What Does H05VV-F Mean?


H05VV-F cable (also known as 318-Y cable) is a type of harmonised (or HAR) cable which means it belongs to the Harmonised reference system and conforms to the European Harmonisation Standard. This purpose of this standard is to improve standards and quality across Europe to ensure the trade of common standard product.

H05VV-F is the code for this harmonised cable which breaks down into the following:

• H = Harmonized

Where are These Cables Used?
