RS PRO Cylindrical Reed Sensor, 4 mm Diameter
RS PRO cylindrical sensors are magnetically operated reed proximity switches in a 4.0 mm diameter miniature module, fitted with interconnect cable. These switches are suitable for various applications including position and limit switch, end position sensing and machinery safety and control.
The sensor should be mounted on a fixed surface with the actuating magnet on the moving surface. By presenting or removing the magnetic field determines the closing and opening of the reed switch.
Reed switches are a type of industrial switch and are used to interrupt or redirect the flow of electricity within a circuit. Reed switches are composed of two ferrous reeds in a small glass casing. The switches are magnetised and move when the magnetic field is moved towards the switch. A reed switch can turn on or off when a magnetic field is nearby.
RS PRO have a great range of industrial magnetic proximity switches and magnetic proximity sensors to suit many different applications.

FAQs
What is a magnetic proximity switch?
Magnetic proximity switches are a type of electromagnetic switch which controls the flow of electricity within a circuit.
What is the difference between a proximity switch and a proximity sensor?
A proximity sensor is a sensor which is able to detect the presence of nearby objects without any physical contact. Proximity switches open or close an electrical circuit when they make contact with or come within a certain distance of an object.
