Jackets

A work jacket or coat is an item of clothing worn on the upper body. The garment is typically waist or mid length with sleeves that fastens up at the front with a zip or buttons. The outerwear is designed to keep you warm and to protect you from the elements. Jackets also provide protection in environments where PPE (personal protection equipment) is a requirement.

Jacket Types

There are many types and style of work jackets or coats available in different sizes, materials, and colours. They can be hooded, quilted, showerproof or waterproof. The environment and application in which the outerwear is used influence the choice. The two main categories are:

General work coats and jackets are used to provide extra warmth in cooler or wetter weather conditions. The types of jackets available range from thinner soft shell jackets, fleeces and lightweight waterproof jackets for milder conditions. For more extreme environments, a heavy-duty style are preferable. These jackets include thicker padded winter jackets, bomber jackets, hooded jackets, waterproof and windbreaker jackets.
