Eaton Non-Fused Isolator Switch, Panel Mounting, 3 Pole - P3-63 Series - P3-63/EA/SVB
This Eaton isolator switch can function as a control as well as a safety device. It has a rotary handle that's used to shut off the power flow to electrical circuits during maintenance. Three integral rings let you lock it in place with padlocks in accordance with the Lock Out Tag Out (LOTO) safety protocol. This device can also serve as an emergency switch, and its conspicuous red and yellow handle colours make it clearly visible on the panel. Its power rating makes it suitable for use in heavy-duty industrial applications such as electricity transmission and distribution stations.
• Impact-resistant thermoplastic enclosure to protect internal components and prevent electric shocks
• Multiple functions including main, maintenance and repair switch
• Flush mounting style for space efficiency
• IP65 (ingress protection) rating to withstand dust and low-pressure water jets
Why should you operate an isolator switch when there's no current flowing through it?
It's dangerous to operate an isolator switch when there's current flowing through it. This is because it has no internal designs to handle arcing of the circuit, which could lead to an explosion.
Eaton Panel Mount Isolator Switch
Eaton's panel mount isolator switch can sometimes be referred to as a switch disconnector, this is because it has been created and designed to safely isolate a circuit whilst it is being used or maintained. This isolator switch breaks or isolates a circuit through the rotation of the rotary handle and locking ring, manually disconnecting the power supply to isolated parts of the circuit. This type of non-fused isolator switch will be found isolating circuit breakers, transmission lines, transformers and a multitude of other applications.
Features & Benefits
• The perfect solution for installing as a safety measure
• Used as an emergency switching off/emergency stop device
• The basic functions are when used as a main switch, maintenance switch or manual override switch
• Thermoplastic, high impact surface mounting enclosure with an IP65 rating - this means that the enclosure part of the isolator has ingress protection against dust and is also protected against low-pressure jets of water that comes from all directions
• Rated uninterrupted current of up to 32 A
• Lockable in the 0/OFF position, with up to three padlocks
• Red rotary handle and yellow locking ring, providing an aesthetically pleasing finish
• Common accessories: 262-3784, 219-1445, 219-1439
What is the difference between a fused switch disconnector and a non-fused switch disconnector?
Unlike fused switch disconnectors, a non-fuse isolator switch does not use a fuse to break or put a circuit into isolation, they instead use a rotary switch or knife-blade disconnect to isolate and de-energise a circuit. Commonly used in industrial automation and control settings.
