As it has a cantilever design, part of the barrel extends beyond the crimped area, giving you increased contact pressure between the wire and terminal. This structure supports a wiping action that cleans off oxides to prevent corrosion. To really seal the deal, you can fit this crimp terminal into a connector housing from the KK 254 range to shield it from contaminants.
