When you need to switch loads such as electric motors or lighting, choose this 7A-rated contactor from Siemens' SIRIUS Innovation range. Its 230V AC coil means it's suitable for use with the UK mains supply without the need for a transformer. The 3NO (normally open) configuration means it'll switch the load once energised. How does a contactor work?
A contactor consists of a coil or electromagnet, contacts, an armature and an enclosure. When current is passed through the coil, it energises the electromagnet, creating an electromagnetic field that moves the armature. This then completes or breaks the circuit depending on whether it's normally open or normally closed (NC).
