A Servo motor is a self-contained electromechanical device that rotates part of a machine with very high precision and great efficiency
Servo Motors are part of a closed-loop system and normally feature a servo motor, a control unit, potentiometer a shaft drive gears, and either a resolver or an encoder, it provides torque and velocity as commanded from a server controller,
Applications
Types of Servo Motors
AC Motors Synchronous or Asynchronous
Synchronous ac motors feature a high-density torque and perform highly in dynamic applications. the rotor in this turn at the same speed rate as the stators rotating magnetic field
Asynchronous ac motor is where the motor turns at a slower speed than the stators rotating magnetic field. These motors and normally used with variable frequency drives to achieve speed control. They do not incorporate any feedback in the loop
DC Servo motors
DC servo motors are normally used in robotics, automation, CNC machinery, and other applications requiring versatility and a high level of precision.
