MOXA Ethernet Switch, 5 Ports, 4 RJ-45 Ports - EDS-205A-S-SC-T

This Ethernet switch provides unmanaged network connectivity tailored for industrial control and transportation environments. It connects a small number of copper ports with a single fibre uplink, enabling straightforward device linking where automatic configuration is not required. The unit is designed for DIN-rail mounting and operation within electrically noisy and transit-oriented infrastructures.

Features and Benefits:

• Four RJ-45 ports plus one SC fibre port for mixed-media links
• Unmanaged operation for plug-and-play deployment without configuration
• Complies with IEEE 802.3u/x enabling standard Fast Ethernet interoperability
• Meets IEC/EN 61000 immunity series to resist electromagnetic disturbances
• Certified to UL 508 for electrical equipment safety in industrial contexts
• Conforms to EN 50121-4 and NEMA TS2 for traffic and rail signalling environments

Applications

• Suitable for linking PLCs and HMIs in factory automation racks
• Ideal for railway signalling cabinet communication backbones
• Used for roadside traffic controllers and junction networks
• Can be used for small subnetworks in mechanical plant rooms

How many physical ports does it provide and what types are they?

The device offers five ports in total, comprising four copper RJ-45 interfaces and one SC-format fibre port for uplink or extended-distance connections.

Is manual configuration required to start network operations?

No configuration steps are necessary, the switch operates in an unmanaged mode and begins forwarding frames once powered and connected.

Which networking standards ensure interoperability with existing Ethernet equipment?

It implements IEEE 802.3 standards including Fast Ethernet variants, allowing compatibility with 10/100BASE-TX and corresponding fibre links.

What environmental immunity standards are supported for industrial electromagnetic conditions?

The unit adheres to multiple IEC/EN 61000-series immunity tests to tolerate electrostatic discharge, radiated and conducted disturbances, and surge events.
